On Saturday, May 25, our friends and partners at City Church Nairobi were awakened to the news that the buildings in which they meet were being destroyed along with school buildings on the same site. The church is two years into a 5-year contract for the use of these buildings, however it seems the property has been sold and the new owner is not lawfully dealing with the existing contracts. There were armed men at the site who were there to ensure the demolition was carried out and they threatened anyone who stood up to them with physical harm. With no prior notification, the church tried to save as much of their property as possible, but there were losses and damages incurred in the hurry. It was very hard and stressful for the leadership and members of the church.

CCN was able to find a place to meet this past Sunday, but they are in need of a new location for the church and were not financially ready for this move. There is also the financial burden of storing the church’s property in the meantime in addition to the existing needs prior to these events.

Our Kenyan family needs our prayers. Please pray for a place for worship: a hall or open space. Pray for abundant provision for the financial implications of these events. Pray for emotional healing and strength for CCN leaders and congregation as they recover from a difficult weekend.
